Przychylenie się do prośby Turcji o konsultacje w sprawie dodatkowej ochrony dla tego kraju na wypadek wojny z Irakiem, to naturalna reakcja i potwierdzenie
determinacji, by wyegzekwować rezolucję Rady Bezpieczeństwa ONZ - uważa minister obrony. "To naturalne, że pozytywnie odpowiadamy na tę prośbę rządu tureckiego" - powiedział PAP Szmajdziński.

Jak poinformował po posiedzeniu rady ambasadorów NATO w Brukseli ambasador Polski przy NATO Jerzy Nowak, "Polska przyłączyła się do wezwania o sojuszniczą
solidarność i o szybkie uruchomienie procedur pozwalających na pomoc tureckiemu sojusznikowi". Nadal jednak nie ma jednomyślnej decyzji Sojuszu. Francja, Belgia
i Niemcy sprzeciwiły się rano decyzji o rozmieszczeniu w Turcji dodatkowych sił.

Powell, Perle, Rumsfeld i Bush w ostrych słowach skrytykowali Francję, Belgię i Niemcy za blokadę decyzji NATO o udzieleniu pomocy wojskowej Turcji w razie
wojny z Irakiem. Znany ze swego cynizmu publicysta New York Times 9.02. w artykule o znamiennym tytule "Vote France Off the Island" posunął się nawet do
zakwestionowania udziału (!) i roli Francji w Radzie Bezpieczeństwa ONZ.

Oto kolejna, pełna demogagii próba politycznego szantażu administracji USA, by móc wreszcie uderzyć na Irak.

To wojna najeźdcza, bezpodstawna, niezgodna z konstytucją USA i prawami międzynarodowymi prowadzona przez mafię militarno-naftową, która przejęła władzę w USA. Dlaczego mielibyśmy wspierać sojusznicze państwa najeźdzcy? Notabene, Turcy zgładzili milion Ormian, a ostatnio mordowali masowo i bezwzględnie Kurdów, ale USA jakoś nie spieszą z inspekcjami czy inwazją, albowiem jest to akurat "sojusznik & friend"... i prawdopodobie trzecia światowa potęga militarna po USA i Izraelu,...
(posłuszna wszelkim żądaniom Białego Domu, choć ludność gwałtownie protestuje przeciw wojnie w Iraku.)

Notabene geneza NATO też jest nieciekawa i bezpośrednio prowadzi do nazistowskich korzeni.

Francja, Niemcy i Belgia uważają, że wojny można wciąż uniknąć poprzez wzmocnienie inspekcji rozbrojeniowych ONZ, gdyż wszystkie środki w ONZ nie zostały wyczerpane.
Turcja zażądała od razu pilnych konsultacji, powołując się na art. 4 traktatu ustanawiającego NATO (zagrożenie integralności terytorialnej). Sekretarz generalny NATO Lord Robertson zapewnia, że sojusznicy zajmą wspólne stanowisko. By uspokoić obawy Turcji, "trójka" wydała bezprecedensow e oświadczenie: "Francja, Belgia i Niemcy potwierdzają, że są zdecydowane wziąć na siebie obowiązki sojuszników, zwłaszcza wobec Turcji, ale tylko wówczas, gdy zagrożenie ze strony Iraku przestanie być potencjalne, a stanie się realne, gdy wojna będzie naprawdę nieunikniona.

Tysiące protestantów z flagami "No-NATO", "Kochamy Amerykę Martina Lutera Kinga", "Rummy go home" zgromadziło się 7 i 8.02 na Marienplatz w Monachium,
gdzie ma miejsce Konferencja Bezpieczeństwa NATO. Rumsfeld znów pochwalił państwa "ósemki" za "odwagę", natomiast a belgijski minister odniósł się do ich wiernopoddańczego listu z nieukrywaną pogardą, oficjalnie twierdząc, że "bardzo wszystkim zaszkodził."

NATO - "Security Conference"

Rumsfeld Faces Tense Greeting and Antiwar Rallies in Munich By THOM SHANKER UNICH, Germany, Feb. 7 Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld arrived tonight in the heart of what he has dismissed as "old Europe," facing antiwar street rallies and a tense reception from his hosts even as he declared that debate among allies is healthy. In advance of his speech on Saturday to an annual security conference, Mr. Rumsfeld was the object today of hostile headlines for his comments that Germany was on par with Cuba and Libya, at least when measured by support for American efforts to disarm Iraq. Advertisement These latest comments to irk Germany came during an otherwise uneventful budget hearing on Wednesday on Capitol Hill. When asked by Rep. Robert E. Andrews, a New Jersey Democrat, to identify nations that have committed troops, offered bases, pledged overflight rights and other assistance should the United States attack Iraq, Mr. Rumsfeld ticked off a few different categories of countries and their participation. He then added: "Then there are three or four countries that have said they won't do anything. I believe Libya, Cuba and Germany are ones that have indicated they won't help in any respect." The cooperation-contract between Germany and Switzerland of last March made it possible to the Bavarians to exercise targeting in advance. Cause the use of high-tech water cannons is something one has to learn and "in all probability the three water cannons will have their next mission on 7th - 9th February in Munich". With all the excitement SZ wrote about a "military meeting" however. Only a misprint?

The collective Schizophrenia

It seems as if a collective schizophrenia is spreading in Munich - as a reflection of the political landscape in Germany. Because (almost) everybody is against an Iraq war. Munich's cardinal Wetter demands a "mobilisation for peace", attac calls for a "tour of peace", and mayor Ude thinks a war was "not acceptable in human-rights and moral means". Only the christian-social party (CSU) of Munich is at odds with itself. Party leader Hans Podiuk is convinced: "Within the conference no plans for an Iraq war will be made, that is an insinuation, and it is simply wrong." (SZ 18th Jan. 03). Of course Podiuk is right. Because this war has been planned some time ago. Among CSU there are more statements which are nearer to reality than many others in gossip-collumns of the daily press. As the opposition party in parliament and being used to the regular's table tone it is obviously easier in war-times to take a stand. Podiuk about the NATO-security conference last year: "Then I saw Monatzeder, Jerzy Montag and Mrs. Beer (all Green politicians) lively chatting with Admiral Whatshisname thingamabob and General Whatshisname thingamabob, while outside their Munich party-pals and party-leader Benker took part in the demonstrations. The Green party are really very elegant with such things." Maybe the Greens are only the "ideal form" of peace-warriors, however: against war, that's clear, but only as far as it doesn't effect the structual causes and the everyday-life. Member of the peace movement and convinced capitalist within one person.

What obviously doesn't matter anymore in this hysteric discussion who is pro or contra a war, are the bare facts. Of course the meeting in Munich will not decide over war and peace. The Weißwurstmetropole isn't that important. But the US defense minister Rumsfeld promised his appearance, which makes some other paricipants a little nervous. But Rumsfeld doesn't want anything but to use the Ambiente of the NATO-security conference and the presence of 28 defense- and foreign ministers to announce the war against Iraq, to prepare his colleagues in pedagogic way, make arrangements and not at least to delegate the orders. Therefore he reserved one hour for a talk with defense minister Struck, as Germany is still restistant and needs special care.
However, this special care should not be mixed up with the actual discussions or with common decisions. Rumsfeld will not discuss about war and peace with Struck, Ude (mayor) or with anybody else, because this decision has been taken a long time ago. Because of that it is nonsens, when mayor Christian Ude defenses the champagne-welcome of the conference-participants with the statement, this way he could have a serious talk with the military-people - he wasn't heared the last years. Therefore he needs a new possibility to talk, and this will be next saturday on Odeonsplatz, when he will talk contra war, but for sure pro NATO and the federal government. Lets wait and see how many Munich people will listen. But it is clear already, that they didn't get the rules of the game exactly.
One who is against war, but not against the ones who make that war; one, who safeguards and protects "global fighters", so that they can participate in attacks in Iraq without the necessity of the parliament to calm down the public; one who demonstrates for peace, to "strenghten our government in its resistant opinion. All the that persons are in the middle of our society. In Munich as well as in every German city.

The global war of the NATO-nations

It doesn't matter if you call this society "capitalistish", "civilized" or "developed". It is simply the society we live in and which is militarily protected by the NATO - dominated by the USA - and this in Kosova, Afghanistan and Iraq. It's second rate which motives get various governments to spend billiards of dollars or euros for their national war-logistics. They do. The German government as well as the US-american or the French. One more, others less. And they do it to "attend to their interests", which make the whealth-greedy lifestyle (which we have here in Germany too) possible and protect it. Therefore it is right to talk about a "security conference, when military-strategists and politicians plan the world of tomorrow. This "security" excludes a majority of the world population however, but one can overlook out of a euro-central view.
In his book "war of world order" Robert Kurz names the NATO as a "political-military frame of Pax Americana and of the crisis-like globalisation of capital in this era". There are "irritations" within this framework however. But that doesn't change anything in the fact, that the NATO - and with it its memer-nations too - protects the continuation of the capital system and the dominance of the "first world".
Saturday the 8th February, the anacrusis speach of the demonstration against the NATO security conference, against war, capitalim and militarism begins in Munich on Marienplatz. Despite of positions which were considerably softened by the alliance-negotiations we will try to make clear the coherence of war and capitalism. The NATO security conference is a symbol for this coherence, therefore a symbol restistance is the right answer. Which roll the Bavarian water cannons will play is still unclear.

"Security on risk"

Themed like this the organizers of the NATO security conference, Horst Teltschik invites to a panel discussion in the "old city hall" on the 8th of February at 6 p.m.. The panel of this "mobilisation event" PRO the NATO security conference speaks for itself, beyond mayor Ude and the olive-green federal chairman Angelika Beer nobody minor will be present as one of the biggest German war monger, Klaus Naumann.

Divers statements of the former chairman of the NATO-military board and general inspektor of the German Army make clear of which opinion Naumann is: "Not the highest level of efficiency of destruction controls the dose of military power anymore, but the intent to lose as little human lives as possible." or "national interest is basically understood broader than protection of the own population or of the own national area." For that a soldier is necessary, "who tries to hold off crises of its country, which lives on in peace while he is far away", Naumann 1999 after the war in Kosovo.

Not enough, on 17th July 2001 he displayed his fashist attitude in an interview with the right wing magazine "JUNGE FREIHEIT". "A little more patriotism wouldn't demage the country", Nauman claims. But unfortunately the one who confess with pride "being a German" - with good purposes - would be suspected being right wing from a few overeagerly, was his criticism.

Enough reasons to not let this public propaganda-event for war and militarism go on undisturbed. Maps are available in the service center of the SZ, Sendlinger Straße 8. Moreover there is a opposed demonstration on Marienplatz!
